How to deal with ink falling off the edges of adhesive labels after die-cutting?

Time:2024-09-04 Views:66
Die cutting of adhesive materials is an important step in the production of adhesive labels. In the die-cutting process of adhesive labels, we often encounter some problems that can greatly reduce production efficiency and even lead to the scrapping of the entire batch of products, causing great losses to the enterprise. How to deal with the problem of ink falling off the edge of the label after cutting the mold?

Some labels are designed for bleeding mold cutting, which involves cutting the mold in areas with printed patterns, requiring the mold cutting knife to cut in areas with ink printing. In this case, it is common to encounter the phenomenon of ink peeling off from the la
bel after the mold is cut. If it is a laminated product undergoing bleeding die cutting, there may also be a phenomenon of the film and ink falling off together. The main factors leading to this phenomenon are as follows.

1. Insufficient ink adhesion.

Some inks have quality issues or do not match the printing material, which can also easily lead to poor adhesion of the ink after printing. In this case, if there is bleeding after label printing, the ink is easily detached from the die-cutting edge. Therefore, it is recommended to test the tape of printed samples on the machine, and if the test results meet the standards, then mass produce them. If the ink adhesion is insufficient, the ink can be replaced to solve the problem.

2. The surface energy of the material is low.

The surface adhesion of printing materials, also known as the surface adhesion of printing materials. Generally speaking, in order for ink to adhere to the surface of the material, the surface energy should not be less than 38 dB. If good ink adhesion is required, the surface of the material should reach at least 42 dynes, otherwise there may be ink peeling problems. After printing, materials with surface energy less than 38 dynes cannot firmly adhere to ink. At this point, if bleeding occurs again, die-cutting can easily cause the ink on the edge of the cutting line to peel off. In this case, the material can be replaced. If the material cannot be replaced, you can also try printing a layer of primer on the surface of the material to increase its surface tension and ensure that the ink does not peel off when cutting the label mold.
