A seemingly perfect image from a computer screen, once printed, may have colors that deviate from expectations. Why ?

Firstly, color printing is achieved through CMYK four color plate printing. CMYK represents cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, and when combined, these four colors can present the colorful world we see. However, due to the particularity of printing and substrate, there is often a certain difference in color between the printed product and the display.

Why is there such a difference? Because the colors on the monitor are in RGB mode, while the printed materials are in CMYK mode. These two modes have significant differences in color presentation. The RGB color mode is mainly used for screen displays, such as computers, televisions, etc., with rich and vibrant colors. The CMYK color mode is the main color mode for Jiongtu printing and painting, with softer and more natural colors. Therefore, when there is a difference between the color we see on the monitor and the color of the printed material, it is mainly due to the difference in these two color modes.

In addition to the above reasons, we also need to consider that there may be slight differences in products from different batches. Even with the same ink and printing machine, there may be slight differences between consecutive printing batches, as factors such as temperature and humidity in the printing environment may change.

So, how to correctly determine color difference? According to the international offset printing standard ISO12647-2, a color difference value controlled within ± 10% of the printed product is considered a qualified product. That is to say, if there is color difference in the printed material within this range, it is in compliance with industry standards.
