What is the reason for the smudging phenomenon of water-based ink on paper? The phenomenon of smudging in water-based ink can be considered from the following three aspects:
1. The issue with ink
The difference between replacing ink with a regular original ink cartridge is significant
① If it is original ink, consider whether it has expired or has been in stock for a long time, both of which will affect the precipitation of ink pigments. The solution is to shake the ink cartridge at a room temperature of not less than 10 degrees Celsius to fully mix the pigments.

2. Paper issue

① There‘s nothing to say about uncoated paper, even the least popular white paper for water-based ink can still experience smudging if it‘s not coated. The solution is to use coated paper.
② Coated paper mainly considers whether the paper has been exposed to moisture, whether it has expired, and whether it has used a thin coating of miscellaneous brands. Regardless of the situation, it will cause the paper coating to mix and not be able to protect the surface, resulting in color fixation in the middle layer, water leakage in the bottom layer, and ultimately causing smudging. 3. Equipment issues
Consumables and print heads have aged for too long, causing uneven ink distribution and resulting in smudging; Mix different batches or brands of ink to mix ink with different chemical ratios in the print head;
Software, using drivers or RIP software for printing, without selecting the corresponding paper type, resulting in excessive inkjet exceeding the limit of paper‘s ability to absorb moisture and causing smudging.
