The concept of plastic sealing

Sealing, also known as plastic sealing, refers to the use of transparent plastic films to be machine applied to the surface of printed materials, providing protection and increasing gloss. Widely used for surface decoration and protection of book and magazine covers, picture albums, commemorative books, postcards, product manuals, calendars, and maps.

The technique of sealing and shaping is somewhat similar to the post-processing techniques used in the 1970s and 1980s when people took black and white or color photos for long-term preservation. Classification of Sealed Plastics

There are two types of sealing methods: hot plastic and cold plastic.

(1) Thermoplastic is the use of multi-stage temperature control and rolling heating to generate high temperatures for shaping plastic sealing films and data pages. Cold plastic is the process of shaping plastic packaging films and data pages using adhesive or magnetic films without the need for heating.

(2) Cold plastic lamination film is made of transparent PVC processed by backing adhesive. According to the texture of the film surface, it can be divided into bright film, matte film, and special textured protective film. In advertising production, bright film and matte film are commonly used.

The role of plastic sealing

The main function of plastic sealing is, on one hand, to protect printed materials from external forces or damage, such as being contaminated by water, oil, or other foreign objects. During transportation or flipping, it may be accidentally scratched or torn, as well as oxidized by air, and so on. However, sealing will increase costs and delivery time, so not all printed materials must be sealed.

On the other hand, it is to improve the aesthetics of printed materials. For example, the materials used for sealing can be bright film, matte film, and even special textured films. Among them, bright film and matte film are widely used in advertising brochures, packaging boxes, hardcover books and other products, because sealed products often look completely different in grade and are highly favored by users!
